Houston Spine Surgeons
Stephen I. Esses, MD is an internationally recognized expert in the field of spinal disorders who has developed several new surgical techniques and implants for the treatment of spinal problems. As former medical assessor for the Canadian Workers' Compensation Appeals Tribunal, he maintains a special interest in workers' compensation injuries. Dr. Esses is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
He has lectured throughout the world and published numerous articles and book chapters on spine-related problems. Dr. Esses is author of "TEXTBOOK OF SPINAL DISORDERS" which is a standard reference for spinal medical personnel.

Georgetown

School of
Medicine where
he also
graduated with
honors. He
finished a
five-year
orthopeadic
surgical
residency at the
University of
Pittsburgh, then
moved to San
Francisco to
complete a
spinal surgery
fellowship with
the San
Francisco Spine
Institute/Spine
Care
Medical Group.
Dr. Bashir is trained in all aspects of operative and non-operative management of degenerative spinal disease, spinal stenosis, neck and back pain, and herniated disks. He has extensive training in minimally invasive and microscopic techniques, in addition to lateral access spine surgery, and disc replacement technology. Dr. Bashir has made many scientific presentations at orthopedic meetings and was recently awarded "Best Poster" presentation at a cervical spine research meeting.
Dr. Bashir is a member of the American Medical Association, the J. Robert Gladden Society, and the Society of Lateral Access Surgery.
Joseph
C. Allen, Jr.,

is an orthopedic
surgeon
practicing
surgery of the
spine.
Dr. Allen received a bachelor's degree from Rice University and attended Texas Southern University. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. Following medical school, Dr. Allen completed a year of general surgical internship, and finished his orthopedic residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Allen then completed his spine fellowship at the North Carolina Spine Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Dr. Allen is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He is also a member of the following societies:

Dr. Allen maintains privileges at HCA Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, HCA Bay Area Surgicare Center, Houston Physician's Hospital, Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, and Texas Orthopedic Hospital.
In addition to his Texas, North Carolina, and Virginia licenses, Dr. Allen is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
